Dr Aminazad is a respiratory physician and finishing his fellowship in sleep disorders at Box Hill Hospital by end of 2012. He undertook most of his basic physician training at Austin Health and also did one year of advanced training in ICU at Monash Medical Centre. He is joining Eastern Health as respiratory physician in the public sector in 2013. One of Dr Aminazad’s greatest interests is medical teaching at different levels. He is an adjunct lecturer at Monash and Deakin universities and is involved in regular training and teaching to medical students, physician trainees and respiratory/sleep advance trainees. He is the founder of respiratory journal clubs at a state-wide level for respiratory and sleep trainees. Dr Aminazad has become interested in procedural respiratory medicine including bronchoscopies and specifically pleural diseases management during his respiratory advance training. He has performed over 200 procedures for diagnosis and treatment of pleural diseases including pneumothoraces, pleural effusions and haemorrhage. He is trained to perform ultrasound guided procedures in respiratory medicine. He is also interested and is currently involved in respiratory and sleep related research including multicentre international RCTs in Asthma and COPD. He has finished his master degree in Clinical Research Methods at Monash University and is interested in development and designs of trials at different levels. He is finishing his 12 months fellowship in sleep disorders and will have great experience in sleep disorder investigation and management. He has admitting rights to Mitcham, Knox, Epworth Eastern and Ringwood private hospitals and is able to provide inpatient care at these hospitals including regular bronchoscopy service.
